Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Winmail.dat file?
These are special attachments created by Microsoft Outlook when emails are sent in Rich Text Format. They encapsulate the message text, fonts, and original attachments in a format (TNEF) that many non-Outlook mail clients cannot read natively.
Which file types are supported?
The app supports decoding and viewing:
  • Winmail.dat (TNEF) attachments
  • .msg Outlook email files
  • .xps and .oxps XML Paper Specification documents
Why can't I see the app in the Share list?
If you don't see Winmail Viewer in the row of app icons:
  1. Scroll to the far right of the app row and tap More (...).
  2. Tap Edit in the top right corner.
  3. Find Winmail Viewer in the list and toggle the switch to ON, or tap the green plus icon.
4. Tap Done. It will now appear in your sharing options.
